Frances A. Fox, R.N. – Owner and Clinical Director. A 1984 graduate from Hahnemann University, School of Allied Health and Nursing, in Philadelphia, PA I spent the first nine years of my career working primarily in Labor and Delivery, Post partum and newborn nursery. I found the hospital setting to be challenging and rewarding but after nine years I felt I needed a change. I then worked doing home visits for high risk pregnant women and women discharged early after childbirth. I loved the interaction and autonomy but found the travel to be very isolating. After only a year and half one of my home care patients had delivered a child conceived from IVF and so I ventured into the possibility of changing career paths and contacted the IVF clinic where she had received treatment. All in the space of one month I was interviewed and hired for what would become the start of my now growing career. From 1994 to 1997 I was employed as an IVF nurse. In July of 1997, the current donor egg nurse coordinator decided to leave her position. I worked as nurse coordinator for the donor egg program in that setting from July of 1997 to October of 2006. During the time of my employment I often became frustrated for our patients who often were told even after considering egg donation that they were in need of a gestational carrier. They felt alone, frustrated and had no where reputable to turn. |
